Gangmusang Fm
Type Locality and Naming
The type section is in southern hill at the mouth of Gangmusang valley 5 km south of Yongzhuzangbu Bridge, Xainza, Xizang. The Gangmusang Fm was named by Comprehensive Party of Reconnaissance Survey, Xizang Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources (1980).
Synonym: (刚木桑组)
Lithology and Thickness
The formation is dominated by gray-dark gray thin-bedded limestone and banded argillaceous limestone, with dolomitic limestone in the lower part and siliceous concretions in the upper part. In the type area, the Gangmusang Fm is 440 m thick.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
It rests conformably on the purple argillaceous limestone of the Xiongmei Fm
Upper contact
It is conformably overlain by the marl and calcareous mudstone of the Xainza Fm

Fossils
Numerous nautiloid fossils such as Michelinoceras huangnigangense, M. fengxiangense, Pleurothoceras, Diestoceras and Yush anoceras were found from the top of the Gangmusang Fm.
